#5 Southern Tier Bike Ride - Days 19 - 24: Dauphin Island to New Orleans

In this episode of our ride west on the Adventure Cycling Association Southern Tier bike route, we start off from Dauphin Island; dance our way into Mississippi; bump into an arts and crafts festival in Ocean Springs; check out the beautiful sandy beaches by Biloxi; navigate the West Pearl River Bridge - closed since hurricane Katrina; and wiggle our way into New Orleans for a much deserved rest day with music, pastries and some tourist stuff.
Well here we go friends!
Lovely Laura was supposed to ride across the country with me in 2021 but due to the onset of Lyme Disease - she is what we call a "long hauler" since they didn't catch it right away - she was unable to ride but was gracious enough to support my goal.
Fast forward to 2025... currently her LD is tolerable; we have a beautiful Specialized Creo 2 SL 5E under her; and she's ready to give it her best shot.
It may be too hard. Too many obstacles to overcome but if we don't try... we will never know for sure.
Join us on this adventure that has been a long time coming.
