#6 Southern Tier Bike Ride - Days 25 - 35 - New Orleans to the Texas border

In this episode of our ride west on the Adventure Cycling Association Southern Tier bike route, we start off from New Orleans, riding atop the levee; cross the Mississippi River not once but three times; cycle across a couple of spillways; encounter our first rice fields; learn about sugar cane; meet our first alligators; check out the historical museum in Merryville, LA; before reaching our penultimate goal... the Texas border.
Well here we go friends!
Lovely Laura was supposed to ride across the country with me in 2021 but due to the onset of Lyme Disease - she is what we call a "long hauler" since they didn't catch it right away - she was unable to ride but was gracious enough to support my goal.
Fast forward to 2025... currently her LD is tolerable; we have a beautiful Specialized Creo 2 SL 5E under her; and she's ready to give it her best shot.
It may be too hard. Too many obstacles to overcome but if we don't try... we will never know for sure.
Join us on this adventure that has been a long time coming.
