I did it! Another dream come true.
The wonderful Orla Perć route with the most beautiful views I have ever seen.
I felt fulfilled and full of energy on the road.
However, hunger remained. The route was not very demanding for me. So it's time for a bigger challenge. Opening up to foreign mountains. Try your hand at winter too.
What do you recommend as a greater challenge than Orla Perć?
A marked hiking trail in the Polish part of the High Tatras, leading along the slopes and ridge through the passes and peaks, between the Zawrat and Krzyżne passes and further along the Wołoszyn ridge to the Clearing near Wołoszyn. It is the longest ridge trail in the High Tatras, in the right direction of the eastern ridge of Świnica. It is often considered the most difficult and dangerous hiking trail in the Tatras and all over Poland. Numerous chains and ladders are an artificial facilitation on the route.
Total time: ~12 h
Total km: ~28 km
Total hills: 2082 m
The highest point: Kozi Wierch 2291 m n.p.m
Zawrat – Krzyżne (Orla Perć) Time : 4:37 h
10 Tips:
1. I always take a few T-shirts with me. When I'm sweaty at the top and the T-shirt is wet, I put on a fresh T-shirt. As a result, I feel more comfortable and when the wind is blowing I do not feel cold as with wet clothes.
2. The most important thing in the mountains is grip. Buy shoes, don't look at their type. Often, typical mountain boots are slicker than trail running shoes. Choose shoes suitable for the season, but above all with good grip.
3. A wineskin with water, we often spend many hours on the trail, and it is not possible to buy water. It's worth setting it. It will be most convenient to equip yourself with a water bag. You can reach for water faster and more comfortably.
4. The lighter the better. Take the necessary things to the items so that the backpack is not too heavy. Food for a small space, and high-calorie, such as pansies, kabanos, sandwiches with peanut butter, jam or bars.
5. Gloves on the route where you grab a lot of rocks or chains may be necessary. Good gloves will give us a more secure grip and we will experience fewer hand rubs.
6. Get out on the route early, so you have enough time to cross the road and you won't be able to walk after dark. Early in the morning there are fewer people on the route.
7. Check the weather for a given day, it can change dramatically during the day. Be prepared for. Take a jacket with you. Strong winds or blowing clouds may surprise you in the higher parts of the mountains.
8. Stop when you feel tired. Make a plan. Rest and replenish water and calories. Fatigue can cost you a serious mistake. It is dangerous on this route.
9. A hat and glasses can come in handy when the sun is shining directly on you all the time. As a result, you have the weaker side, or you just get tired of flexing your facial muscles. Also protected against your skin on the face.
10. Work with your whole body, take steps confidently, help yourself with your hands. In the case of an uncertain place, it was first checked whether it was possible to set a foot or whether the rocks were marked. Check if it is not loose, chew on your weight, do not trust facilitating (chain and ladder), trust your strength and rely on yourself.
