Beethoven - Symphony No. 6 "Pastoral", Movement 2 (Fire Emblem Soundfont)

Описание: The second movement of this symphony is perhaps the most placid in any of Beethoven's symphonies. What it strives to depict isn't complicated and is very easy to picture: a moment of relaxation by a brook. As such, the music remains pleasant throughout, without any hints of agitation. Beethoven achieves a wonderful effect right from the start by the string accompaniment suggesting the gentle flow of the water.

The most famous moment from this movement, however, comes near the end. In what's perhaps the most explicitly pictorial passage in any of Beethoven's works, we get a peculiar woodwind cadenza that directly imitates the sounds of birds (10:19). The three birds are a nightingale (flute), quail (oboe), and cuckoo (clarinet), in that order. These birds aren't just for show, as they are integrated seamlessly into the movement's hushed close (11:00).
