Tokachidake is at the southern end of the Daisetsuzan National Park. The live volcano emits billowing smoke that can be seen from Furano. This is one of the alpine ski mountains of the park. On a clear day there are sweeping views of Asahidake to the north and Furano across the valley.
Tokachidake is one of Hokkaido’s 13 live volcanos. The last time it erupted was in 1988.
