Today’s goal was simple - a 14km easy long run.
Last weekend I ran 13km, so this was a small progression. But there was also a special reason behind the number. Since it’s February 14th (Valentine’s Day), I decided to run 14.02 km - a symbolic progression and a small personal challenge.
The weather was beautiful but very cold, around 2–3°C. Bright sunshine, clear skies, but freezing air. I had to layer up properly, and honestly, I wasn’t even sure if I could complete the full distance.
There were doubts.
Yesterday, after my run, I had a protein shake that didn’t sit well. My stomach was upset, and I woke up feeling weak. On top of that, I felt a small sharp pain in my left knee the night before. I didn’t know if it would show up during the run.
So today wasn’t about feeling strong. It was about showing up.
I started gently, listening to my body, unsure how far I would go. Step by step, kilometer by kilometer, I kept moving. The cold air, the sunshine, the quiet roads — everything slowly settled into rhythm.
And in the end, I completed 14.02 km.
Not every run feels amazing.
Some days you feel light and powerful.
Other days you feel weak, uncomfortable, and doubtful.
But today reminded me of something important:
Feelings are temporary.
Ups and downs come and go like sine waves.
Don’t give up because of a moment.
Stick to the plan.
Progress isn’t built on perfect days. It’s built on the days you show up despite uncertainty.
Given the conditions - cold weather, upset stomach, and knee doubts, I’m truly happy with this run.
Sometimes, finishing is the real victory.
