As the Prophet ﷺ entered Madinah and began building the Muslim Ummah, he gave a set of profound instructions:
“Spread peace. Feed people. Maintain family ties. And pray at night while people are asleep.”
In this reflection we explore the final instruction: night prayer (Tahajjud).
Even a society built upon justice, compassion and strong family ties can lose its way if it loses its connection to Allah. Civilizations may build institutions, governments and systems, but the true moral compass of an Ummah lies in its spiritual connection to its Creator.
Tahajjud represents sincerity, devotion and excellence. When believers stand before Allah while the world sleeps, their worship becomes an intimate act known only to Him.
As we enter the first of the odd nights of Ramadan, we are reminded of the immense opportunity of Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Decree, a night better than a thousand months.
