Jesus Is the “I AM” — Seeing the Father in the Son (John 14)

Jesus doesn’t just point us to God—He reveals God. In John 14:7–11, Jesus tells Philip, “The one who has seen Me has seen the Father.” That’s not metaphor. That’s a claim of identity.
In this message we connect the dots from Exodus 3 (the burning bush, “I AM WHO I AM”) to the Gospel of John, where Jesus repeatedly uses “I AM” language—including John 8:58 (“before Abraham was born, I am”). John opens by declaring it plainly: “the Word was God” (John 1:1–3).
And if that feels hard to believe, Jesus gives an invitation: believe because of the works—the miracles that overflow from union with the true God. Why does Jesus press this so hard? Because He’s preparing His disciples to step up and continue the mission—and faith in who Jesus truly is becomes the access point to greater works (John 14:12).
This isn’t just theology—it demands a response. When John sees Jesus in glory (Revelation 1), he falls like a dead man. That’s what revelation does: it produces the fear of the Lord, wisdom, surrender… and power.
