When you start designing you game, you probably have a lot of questions that are difficult to answer without being able to try it out on some players. However, it can take a lot of time to get enough of your game ready to really run playtests. Don't worry, though, if you learn how to prototype effectively, you can get a lot of these questions answered well before you get to building the game itself. In this video, Bob will discuss the merits of prototyping, how to paper prototype and how board game mechanics and game design pattern language can help.

SUGGESTED TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION
Do you know any other prototyping tools that were not mentioned in the video?
Are there any game design questions that you might not be able to answer with a cleverly designed prototype, and how would you deal with those instead?
Pick the core mechanic of your favorite games, and ask yourself, how would you prototype it?
