The Town of Gillette was just past the first river crossing. The only thing that remains is a section of the Burfind Hotel. The road to the Hotel was gated so we continued on up to the town of Tip top
The Tip Top silver mine was discovered in 1875. Tip Top was a happening place to be in 1880-1895 with a Brewery/Chinese laundry/Post Office & Hotel.
You can get all kinds of neat info if you Google it.
Tip Top & Gillette may be a Ghost Towns now but with the price of silver climbing maybe they will have a resurgence??
