Batanta Island Day Trip | Raja Ampat, Indonesia

Описание: In this video we will be taking a day trip out to Batanta Island in Raja Ampat, Indonesia.

It is our 5th day in Raja Ampat and our last day on Doberai Private Island. :( We transfer to Mansuar Island where we will be staying for our final couple days in Raja Ampat.

The boat ride takes around 50 minutes to get to Mansuar and we check into our new home, the Raja Ampat Dive Lodge Resort. We take it easy for the rest of the afternoon, enjoy a beautiful sunset and get ready for the day trip we have planned for tomorrow.

Next day...

Today we are heading out to Batanta Island. Batanta is the smallest of Raja Ampat’s Four Kings (main islands) and it takes us around 2 hours to reach.

Once we reach the island, we take the boat through a beautiful and serene mangrove forest. We park and begin our hike through the dense, lush rainforest. After about 10 minutes we reach a small waterfall. We stop for a quick break and some photos before continuing on our way.

We then climb further upstream through the rainforest. The hike follows the stream and we cross it several times. We scramble over large boulders and make our way over quite a few "mini" falls. We honestly did not know what to expect with today's day trip, but it is turning out to be a pretty big adventure!

We arrive at the top after around an hour. The waterfall is beautiful.. it is around 10 meters tall and there is a large pool where we have a swim. We hang out for around an hour or so before making the hike back.

By the time we reach the boat, it is starting to rain a bit. We have some coffee and a snack while making our way back through the mangrove forest and continuing on to our lunch and snorkel spot. The rain is really coming down at this point. We find a small island to park and enjoy our lunch on the boat, trying to hide from the rain.

Since we are all soaking wet anyway, we hop in the water for our afternoon snorkel and I am so glad we did because this turns out to be one of the best snorkel spots we have seen. Raja Ampat does not disappoint once again.. there are so many fish and beautiful coral!

We snorkel for around 30 minutes or so but the rain is not letting up, so we hop back in the boat to head towards Mansuar. Things get pretty interesting from here. The rain turns into a white out storm and our boat driver gets turned around and loses his way. We cannot see more than 10 or so meters in any direction and using the compass on our phone, our boat driver navigates (very slowly) for around 30 minutes or so in the general direction of north.

The rain starts to clear a bit and we finally spot a small island and our driver and guide are able to reorient themselves in the appropriate direction. We continue on to Mansuar, and after another hour, we make it back safe and sound. After getting showered and warmed back up, we relax for the rest of the afternoon and end the day with yet another amazing sunset!
