• Spray bottle with water
• Optional: Hair comb

Step 1: Dampen your hair with the spray bottle. Comb your hair down so it is lying straight.

Step 2: Use the #4 guide comb and start cutting away the hair in front of the ears. Work your way around the back of the head to the neckline. Use an upward rocking motion for an even cut.

Step 3: Next, cut the top. Switch to the #8 guide comb to keep a longer length on top. Cut from the back front with the grain of your hair.

Step 4: Switch back to the #4 guide comb. Cut with a rocking motion to blend everything together. Using your fingers or a comb as a guide will allow you to keep the hair longer on top than a specific guide comb might.
