Meandering vineyards and orchards across the verdant hills of the Vipava Valley are located between the Adriatic and the Alps, and set along the Vipava River.
Local gastronomy includes the Vipava prosciutto, the Nanos cheese along with a wide variety of local wine such as pinela and zelen.
The picture-perfect Vipavski Križ, a romantic fortified town with narrow streets, is one of the most prominent settlements in the valley.
Once the smallest town in the Habsurg Empire and a bustling trade centre, today holds the popular Zelen Wine Festival
in June and a medieval festival the
Sound of the Castle Walls in August.
