This week, I'm gonna show you guys how you can use the tritone substitution in your improvised solos to play lines with more "outside" sounds in them. Using the tritone scale over a dominant chord can give you access to all the altered extensions without having to worry about any complex modal theory! We'll go through a couple exercises and learn how to resolve from the tritone scale back to the tonic. Then, we'll use some dominant bebop language that you're already familiar with and transpose it to fit the tritone scale. We're gonna do all this over a ii-V-I in the key of C so that you can work it out in isolation before implementing it over changes to jazz standards.
