Annie Reading was born with the congenital condition syndactyly — she's missing several fingers from her left hand. She realized early she appeared different than other children — even though she felt just like any of them.
Reading is turning her disability into an advantage. She'll receive her associate of science degree in the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program of the Rutgers School of Health Related Professions May 15.
And as a therapist, she plans to bring empathy and reliability to others with physical conditions — to provide care that draws from an intimate, personal understanding of physical challenges those without such challenges can't have.
