In the heart of Luxor, we experienced the annual celebration of Abu al-Haggag – a festival that completely transforms the city.
Horses, camels, crowds filling the streets, stick dances, chanting and what felt like pure chaos (at least to us 😄). The celebration takes place around Abu Haggag Mosque, built directly on top of the ancient Luxor Temple.
It’s loud, intense, emotional and deeply rooted in local tradition.
A mix of history, faith and raw street energy.
