In this Physics video lecture in Hindi we derived the magnitude and force applied between two infinitely long current carrying parallel wires. As there is a magnetic field created due to the presence of current through one conductor and the second current carrying conductor is placed in that magnetic field, it experiences a force being applied on; because moving charge in a magnetic field experiences a force, which can be expressed as magnetic Lorentz force. The magnitude of the force per unit length (which is equal for both the wires.. How? Newtons 's third law) is found to be (μ0/4π )(2 I1 I2 / d). Here 'I1' is the magnitude of current through the first conductor, 'I2' is the current through the second one and 'd' is the perpendicular distance between them. It is found that the force are attractive when both the wires carry current in the same direction and the forces are repulsive when they carry current in opposite direction.
