Before anybody called me Tony G, the streets knew Tony Cam.
My first big homie.
My first real lesson in loyalty and survival.
He couldn’t stay in school… so he grabbed my birth certificate just to keep ballin’.
That was family. That was how locked in we were.
When I finally got my license — I became his driver.
He showed me Uptown Norfolk, where the whole game was different.
Where money, power, and women all moved off the same product.
Where I learned the rules ain’t fair, and protection comes with a price.
He wasn’t no saint.
To the weak, he was a bully.
To the lost, he was a teacher.
To me — he was the one who put the hustle in my veins.
But even the closest ones can become enemies in the streets.
We had a misunderstanding that could’ve turned into war.
Lines were drawn… but the love was still there.
And then the streets did what they do best…
Took him away.
They say it was one of my cousins.
A situation where either one could’ve died.
You had to know them both to understand the truth —
and the self-defense is definitely a thing. I only heard the story from the streets but understand with a whole heart.
This ain’t just a story.
This is Southgate history.
