The tennis forehand is one of the shots that can help you dominate your opponents and win more matches under the clutch. In this lesson, Jeff Salzenstein shares three amazing tips to transform your tennis forehand. These powerful tips will help you to improve your technique, as well as create effortless power and spin on your forehand.
Here’s a quick overview on each forehand tip:
Tip #1: Forehand Shoulder Angle
When Roger Federer makes contact with the ball on the forehand, his shoulders are tilted. He keeps his dominant shoulder below the non dominant shoulder. This will directly affect the racquet angle, and allow you to create more topspin. It all comes down to body alignment, and once you master this area, your forehand technique will improve.
Tip #2: The Finish on Forehand
Jeff advises working first on the fundamental forehand, which involves swinging from low to high and finishing over your shoulder. You also want to focus on your balance at the end of the swing. Once you’re closer to the baseline and play a more offensive style, you’ll start to square up and you'll finish across the body.
Tip # 3: The Elbow
When you make your first move on the forehand, you want to keep your elbow away from the body. That will help you to create better spacing, and load your racquet to accelerate through the ball before and during contact.
These three powerful tips will help you to develop a world class tennis forehand in real time.
