Mitra Naseh is a forced migration scholar and Assistant Professor at the Brown School, Washington University in St. Louis.
Her work focuses on the multidimensional social and economic integration of forcibly displaced populations, informed by her interdisciplinary academic background. Naseh’s research is supported by extensive fieldwork with NGOs and UN agencies, particularly in the Middle East and South Asia.
For the FMI November 2025 Newsletter, we interviewed Dr. Naseh about her current work, what drives her passion for this field, and the research gaps she sees in forced migration. She also shared advice for students and early-career scholars, along with a book recommendation for those interested.
