Ladder Diagram (LD) is the most widely recognized programming language in industrial automation. If you can read an electrical schematic, you can learn to program a PLC using Ladder Logic.
In this video, we begin our deep dive into LD. We will set up a project in CoDeSys, explain the interface (Rungs and Rails), and master the fundamental building blocks of control logic: Normally Open/Closed Contacts and Standard Coils.
While we use CoDeSys for the demonstration, these concepts apply universally to Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, and almost every other PLC on the market.
