A PLC does two things: it reads inputs, and it makes decisions. To make those decisions, we use Logic Gates.
In this video, we translate the three fundamental building blocks of digital logic—AND, OR, and NOT—into Ladder Diagram. We will see how placing contacts in Series creates AND logic, and how placing them in Parallel creates OR logic.
We will build these circuits in CoDeSys, simulate them with Truth Tables, and combine them to create a real-world machine control circuit (Start AND Safety OR Maintenance).
