AI is quietly collapsing the “slide-deck economy” of consulting. When a well-prompted model can draft research, frameworks, and a credible first-pass strategy narrative in minutes, the deck stops being proof of value. This doesn’t mean consulting disappears; it means the market shifts. Clients will pay less for polished output and more for what slides never guaranteed: truth, defensibility, and the ability to turn recommendations into real decisions and execution in messy organisations.
The biggest change is responsibility. As AI commoditises analysis and accelerates delivery, verification and accountability become premium skills. Firms must rethink pricing, team structures, and the junior talent pipeline, because the old apprenticeship model was built on entry-level work that AI can now automate. The winners will be consultants who use AI as a multiplier while focusing on outcomes: alignment, governance, adoption, and measurable impact rather than presentation polish.
