Container Build - moving along, Sliding glass door frames and inside walk about

Описание: We're trying something different in this video. We have time lapse since everything seems so easy that way and some real-time video.


In order to put some more heart into the videos and the project we have several minutes of real time video to show off the house in the current form.


We spend 2 days in making the frames for the sliding glass doors. We have 1 8x8ft and 3 6x8ft doors and we are using 3x3" angle iron (3/16" thick) and will be the rough opening for the doors. Pretty straight forward concept since we can easily plumb and level the angle iron to the exact requirements for the rough openings. To make it work we had to cut the holes in the containers that had the corrugation towards the outside so that we can weld the outside part of the angle iron one consistently and evenly. No big deal, cut a bit oversize and move the angle iron into place measuring a ton of times to make certain the rough opening is correct.


The cutting was pretty straight forward, especially for the 6x8ft doors which magically allowed us to find the outside corrugation easily. Both cuts on the outside were in a valley so no need for the laser level. The top was a different matter since the rough opening for all the doors is 92.5". Laser Engaged - easy answer. Well, for the most part, as Murphy laws go...I only had to redo the last door (game room) where I missed the mark and had to re-cut the header. This doesn't sound like a big deal except that I had only 1 cut off disc left (more on order but they were a day late!). Go figure...


In any case, things went rather smoothly I must say... Happy with the progress.


Angie did all the priming and paint of the frames and we are now ready for the door installers (yes contract folks). We are very exciting to get the doors in which will allow us to finish the framing and get in with the rest of the build (wiring and plumbing coming up, then AC).
