Short Path Distillery - Our Method

The small, down-to-earth Short Path Distillery, which has been operating since 2015, is one of fewer than 10 direct-fire distilleries in the US. That direct fire approach to distilling, which gives spirits a unique carmely, nutty flavor, especially in their traditional whiskey.

Everything in Short Path's production process is by hand, and while that makes things a little more difficult and perhaps a little slower, for Robinson, that also means more character uniqueness to their spirits. Keep in mind too, that while they opt for a less "automatic" approach, Short Path doesn't skimp on the quality of their equipment, either. Their Portuguese copper pot stills are in the Alembic style, which is a distilling technique that has been used for hundreds of years. "These stills were perfected over hundreds of years through tinkering, to produce the highest quality spirits," says Robinson. In other words, much like a fine aged scotch or whiskey, this technique only gets better with age.
