Passing your 7th grade physical

Описание: Tatum Moore is looking forward to her first year of Middle School. On a scale of 1-to-10 she gives her excitement level a 20. But before she walks through the doors of Fremont Middle School there is one important thing she needs to do: get a seventh grade physical.

Bill Bishop, Nurse Practitioner from Pediatric Partners, says it's not recommended. It's "required" for all seventh grade students in Nebraska and so are some important immunizations.

"One of the vaccines we offer to our seventh grade and our high school patients is the meningococcal vaccine. Meningitis is somewhat of a rare phenomenon but so deadly. And so is the risk of missing that vaccination or any of the routine vaccinations. (The fear) is that they will become infected themselves and also pose a risk for younger people or people with compromised health problems," Bishop said.

Tatum's mother, Sheila Moore, said, "I think it's important to help protect my daughter and to stop the spread of contagious diseases. So if we could all participate we could eradicate these diseases and put an end to them."

Now that Tatum has received her shots she can go back to focusing on her first day of middle school.

"I'm pretty excited," Tatum chuckled.
