This was a short but really solid game. The story stood out the most for me, but the real fear came from the uncertainty—never being totally sure what you were looking at. That ambiguity is what made it unsettling.
This was a blind playthrough, so there are a few moments where absolutely nothing happens—that's just me getting lost and eventually having to look up what to do. At one point, you actually lose access to your map, but you’ll still see me checking it often. I had a screenshot of the map on my other monitor and had to piece together where I was based on landmarks and vague guesses.
Proximate also features some great representation of queer and trans characters, which is a nice touch in an indie game. This is something I really appreciate as part of the narrative.
