Sojourn is a 15-minute immersive Native American flute meditation — a sound journey for grounding, heart opening, and deep energetic release.
Sitting between a song and a sound bath, this piece invites stillness, breath, and presence.
Sojourn is a slow-unfolding, immersive sound journey that lives somewhere between a song and a sound bath — intentionally inhabiting the space in between.
At the heart of the piece is a Native American flute whose breath and phrasing gently guide the listener through a spacious, meditative landscape. The supporting textures are subtle, warm, and expansive, allowing the flute to remain the emotional centre while the sound field slowly breathes and evolves.
🎶 Instrument Details
The Native American flute featured in Sojourn is a handmade yellow cedar flute, tuned to E minor, crafted by master instrument maker Guillermo Martinez of Quetzalcoatl Music. His instruments are known for their organic tone, expressive breath response, and deep resonance.

The backing soundscape was created using Spectrasonics Omnisphere 3, forming a rich but unobtrusive harmonic foundation that supports relaxation, introspection, and emotional release.
Sojourn was written, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Mat Creedon, who also created and edited the accompanying film.
This piece was inspired by Mat’s close friend Rick Corti, a master Native American flute player from Melbourne. Several years ago, Mat had the pleasure of recording and performing live with Rick — an experience that deeply influenced the restraint, space, and emotional honesty of this composition.
Running just under 15 minutes, Sojourn works beautifully as a daily grounding and heart-opening practice. While it isn’t a traditional sound bath, it offers many of the same benefits — calming the nervous system, releasing stored tension, and gently reconnecting the listener with breath and body.
🌿 Suggested Listening Practice
Listen once daily, either seated or lying down. Allow the first few minutes to simply follow the breath, then soften your attention and let the sound move through you. There’s no goal — just space. If emotions arise, let them pass naturally.

The visuals were inspired directly by the music and feature a blend of sourced footage alongside scenes filmed in Mat’s backyard and the surrounding suburbs of Canterbury, grounding the piece in a real, lived landscape that mirrors the organic nature of the sound.
