Описание: Dr. Sanni Abdulrahman is a socio-economist at the Institute for Agricultural Research, Ahmadu Bello University (A.B.U.), Zaria, Nigeria, and an Associate Professor with expertise in gender, participation, and agricultural development. In this webinar, he presents findings from tricot on-farm trials conducted with 900 farmers across five states in Nigeria’s Savanna region, examining how gender dynamics and socio-cultural factors shape participation and decision-making. Drawing on evaluations of improved groundnut, sorghum, and pearl millet varieties, the presentation highlights persistent gender inequalities in education, access to extension services, and cooperative membership, as well as restrictive norms that limit women’s agency and influence. The session discusses gender-responsive approaches to strengthen equitable participation in participatory breeding and technology adoption among smallholders.
