Описание: Dr. Mouritala Sikirou is a plant breeder with 20 years of experience in research and teaching, specializing in cassava and rice breeding. As a Senior Lecturer and former NARS researcher at INRAB, he released three rice varieties and led lowland rice breeding in Liberia. Since joining IITA in 2018, he has contributed to cassava breeding in Central Africa, releasing four CBSD-resistant varieties in 2021 and preparing tricot-based variety releases for 2025. In this presentation, he highlights the results of farmers’ on-farm tricot evaluations in DR Congo, where 450 farmers assessed six advanced cassava clones across nine provinces. Key findings include MVZ2016-364 excelling for the fresh market, MVZ2018-016 for Fufu and mechanization, and biofortified GKA2016-214 gaining interest for chikwangue. With 350 tricot fields harvested, the official variety naming and seed system integration are expected in June 2025.
