Counting Crows "Rain King" Live on KOME/Blazy & Bob Show, Only Aired Once, Dec 1993 (Audio Only)

Описание: This is the first time this performance has been heard since it originally aired on The Blazy & Bob Show on KOME in December of 1993. Here's why. After they performed "Mr. Jones" on our show (available here on my channel), we asked if they'd play another song. This was the one they chose. They were such a new band at the time, few radio listeners knew of the band, let alone this album track. Now in hindsight, it is one of my favorite moments that happened live on the show. It's a great example of Counting Crows excellent songwriting and acoustic playing. Since KOME, like most rock stations at the time, had a tight format, this wasn't a song that we'd replay. The other reason is because The Blazy & Bob Show ended at the station in April of 1994. It's so great to revisit the time the Crows came into my studio.

I made studio notes in the "Mr. Jones" post, but let me add that on "Rain King", I was pleasantly surprised that the guy singing harmony with Adam came out so well. He was nowhere close to a microphone. Adam and I were the only ones hearing it in headphones and I was so glad that the harmonies were coming in well. I also like Adam's cough at 2:22. He later mentioned he was getting over one, and that just adds flavor to a one of a kind performance of this wonderful song. Glad you are enjoying it after all this time.
