TANAKA SAKE BREWING—KIKKOGURA WAREHOUSES
Built around 1905, these stone warehouses are designated as Historic Buildings of Otaru City. Unlike most breweries in Japan, Tanaka Sake Brewing is able to brew sake all year round, and these warehouses are the reason why. They’re the only sake brewing facilities in Hokkaido that are not dependent on the season, allowing you to enjoy freshly brewed sake even in summer.
The water for the sake is drawn from a water source about 70m underground, formed by years of melting snow from Mt. Tengu. The abundant nature surrounding Otaru is the secret to the high quality of this brewerys sake.
