Strengthening exercises for Pointe
This ballet video is for young dancers. It will give you a few exercises to help strengthen your feet and ankles in preparation of starting pointe work. They are also ideal to keep up throughout your dance training, whether pointe work is something you're already doing regularly in class or even if it is something you're not planning on starting ever. All dancers need strong feet - pointe work or not!
Exercise Guide:
1. Double calf raises: 2-3 sets of 10-12 reps (warm-up)
2. Single leg calf raises: 2-3 sets of 10-12 reps left & right
3. Calf raises to demi pointe: 2-3 sets of 10-12 reps
4. Foot arch 'bridges': 2-3 sets of 10 reps left & right,
5. Theraband ankle exercises: 10x10 second holds left & right
3-4 x week
My main focus on this ballet channel is to pass on all my knowledge as an ex English National Ballet School trained dancer and my 11 years of dance teaching. I will be producing fun and imaginative ballet videos for children to practice dance at home as well as giving children the teaching foundations of dance with my ballet videos which include ballet steps, movements and sequences as well as hints and tips for young dancers to help improve their ballet technique. My aim is to help children and aspiring young dancers build self-confidence, creativity and increase their physical activity through dance.
