Centered around Gouraud Street, Gemmayzeh, likened to “Greenwich Village” or “Soho,” is one of Beirut’s most lively, popular neighborhoods.
This trendy Bohemian district is near downtown Beirut and Achrafieh to the south. Its main street, rue Gouraud, is filled with restaurants, bars, lounges, art galleries, hole-in-the-wall shops, and cafes.
The artistic district of Beirut has gorgeous buildings from the French era and narrow streets. Much of the area was damaged extensively by the Beirut blast. We have footage of Gemmayze in another video just a few days after it happened if you’d like to watch it after this.
Mar Mikhael, a street over, shares many similar characteristics to Gemmayze. Trendy boutiques, art galleries, more bars and pubs. Street art adorning the walls. This is Beirut’s creative heartbeat.
Follow The Remote Traveller as we take you through the narrow graffitied streets of Beirut's Bohemian Quarters to show you:

Part of the reason we chose to show the locations we did in this video is that they suit our life well -- and if you happen to be like us, then you'll enjoy these digital nomad-worthy spots.
In the future, we will explain how we used copywriting, Etsy, and several side hustles to become locationally independent. So please give this video a like, SUBSCRIBE here, and follow us on Instagram @TheRemoteTraveller if digital nomad / work-from-anywhere content is something you're interested in.
