2017 Health Care Heroes Lifetime Achievement Award winner: Dr. Bartal

Описание: Each year the Wichita Business Journal chooses two people to receive Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Health Care Heroes awards dinner.

The selections are difficult. Wichita has seen some impressive health care providers through the years who have had big impact on the community, through their practices and their influence of others in the field.

This year's honorees have made a big impact on their professions, their peers, and most of all, their patients. We produced a pair of videos describing some of their achievements.

Dr. Ely Bartal is the CEO and medical director of the Kansas Surgery and Recovery Center.

Doctor Bartal is a native of Casablanca, Morocco. He attended medical school in Toulouse, France.

He worked his orthopedic residency at Mount Sinai hospital in Cleveland, Ohio and served a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Newington Children’s Hospital in Newington, Connecticut.

Dr. Bartal has served as director of orthopedics and rehabilitation at Via Christi, medical director of the Via Christi Gait Lab and director of special health services clinics at St. Francis.

He was a member of Via Christi’s medical executive and performance improvement committee.

Dr. Bartal joined Dr. Hank Marsh back in 1981. He was in private practice until 2007. He and Dr. David McQueen created the Kansas Surgery and Recovery Center in 1992.
