Witnesses: Lightning hit tree, sent it crashing into Sacramento home
A series of winter storms continued through Christmas week in the Sacramento area, causing flooded streets, clogged storm drains, and downed trees, according to Sacramento County officials. The county received more than 100 service calls related to flooding, debris, and storm damage as heavy rain and wind overwhelmed drainage systems in some neighborhoods. Storm damage was also reported in Land Park, where a lightning strike snapped a large cedar tree that crashed into a family’s home on Christmas Eve, according to witnesses.
