There are numerous benefits to one's metabolic health by walking a golf course instead of riding in a cart. A controlled study of golfers in Finland who played a minimum of 2 rounds of 18 holes per week for 20 weeks showed benefits in body composition, aerobic capacity, and cholesterol. They averaged 5.1 miles of walking per round.
