Sometimes great auction packages just don't speak to the crowd. Though this wasn't the strongest item in the auction, it was a solid live auction package. For whatever reason, it just wasn't moving that night.
So what does an auctioneer do when an item doesn't take off? Sell low and move on?
Here's what I did: The package stalled at $900. I stopped the action and re-started. I'm too stubborn to let a good item sell low when I know it's worth more. The final sale was $2000.
