Soft, fluffy, and golden — Luchi is a classic Bengali fried bread that’s light, airy, and absolutely irresistible. In this video, I’m sharing my easy, beginner-friendly Luchi recipe using simple ingredients and clear steps, so anyone can make perfect luchi at home.
This video is Episode 1 of my new series – Indian Breads Beyond Roti, where I explore traditional, regional Indian breads beyond everyday rotis and chapatis.
Whether you’re new to Indian cooking or missing the taste of home, this luchi recipe is simple, comforting, and perfect for weekends, festive meals, or special breakfasts.
Luchi pairs beautifully with: Aloo r torkari, Cholar dal, Bengali-style vegetable curry,Any festive Bengali meal
🛒 Ingredients:
All-purpose flour (Maida)
Clarified butter (Ghee)
Salt
Water (as needed)
Oil (for deep frying)
👩🍳 Method:
In a bowl, add all-purpose flour, salt, and ghee.
Gradually add water and knead into a smooth, soft dough.
Cover and rest the dough for 15–20 minutes.
Divide into small equal portions and roll into small discs.
Heat oil in a deep pan on medium heat.
Gently slide in the rolled luchi and press lightly so it puffs up.
Fry until lightly golden on both sides.
Remove and serve hot with your favorite curry.
