Hiking Echo Mountain, Altadena, CA.
Looking at the landscape today, it is hard to imagine that there was once a scenic railway that climbed into the San Gabriel Mountains. This particular trail visits the site of the Echo Inn on top of Echo Mountain, which was a major stop on the railway. Trails continue from there to go to other historic stops, but as a half-day hike, this makes a great turnaround point. Plaques help to describe the history, but the rest is up to your imagination!
