This was supposed to be first monsoon Trek of this season; the weather was amazing but there was no sign of rain except few drizzles.
We are taking the Tamsai trail to Chanderi, the nearest railway station is Panvel.
As usual we started early to catch local from Kanjurmarg towards CST .. we got down at Kurla and took harbor line train to Panvel.
Yes, we are planning to climb Chanderi from the Panvel side not from the vangani /Badlapur side which is much known among trekkers.

We got down at Panvel station and got a tum-tum for 500 rupees till the base village tamsai. Since this side trail Is not that famous with trekkers ..so not many ppl trek this route so the tum-tum mentioned he will not be able to pick us if we descent this way. We may have to walk till the main road to get tum-tum. This did induce the thought of getting down from the vangani side which we took on our descent.

Chanderi trail from Panvel side is a medium grade trek, there are no tricky spot only that it’s through the dense forest, one need to give proper attention or will miss out the trail.

Chanderi offers a great view of the surrounding hills in the region. The trail starts from behind the tamsai village leading us to the forest. The start of the trail is confusing as there are number of other trail used by villagers so in case of any confusion just check with the local villager. Once you get the start correct you will start seeing marker

While trekking in the forest you will be walking almost parallel to a stream path, the trail will lead to the stream and we cross the stream and climb up… this can be missed very easily if you are not cautious. This climb will get you to the col of Chanderi where both the trail the tamsai route and the chinchavli route meet.

Now there is just one trail leading to the base of the pinnacle.

There are no such fortification at the base of the pinnacle. There is cave and a water tank .

There was a trail leading to the top of the Pinnacle after landslides not much remain just a faint path which is not advisable to attempt during monsoon without proper equipment.

Chanderi is also notoriously known for rock falls, so please be careful if you come across heavy rain fall.

We decided to descent through Chinchavli route, I have never been through this route. What is observe was this is risky route in monsoon as we cross water fall and stream number of times which can be risky during heavy rain fall and one can easily miss the trial. I would advise people to go via Tamsai route during monsoon.
