Speaker 1: Today on this 2015 Ford Focus, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T1 vehicle wiring harness with a four pole flat trailer connector. Part number 118674.Here's what our wiring looks like installed. As you can see, when it's not in use it's designed to be stored inside our spare tire compartment on our vehicle, out of the way so it doesn't get damaged. When we want to use it, we can grab it, set it to the side of our latch here for our trunk. Now the reason we want to stay to the side of our trunk latch is because this is a pinch point and it could damage our wires. So make sure we have plenty of clearance and we'll lay it flat over the weather stripping and we can close our hatch over the wires.As you'll notice we have plenty of slack in our wires to get right next to the receiver on our hitch.

Now the reason you're going to want a four pole flat such as this on. This will give you the necessary lighting functions that are required by law in order for you to safely and legally tow your trailer. This green wire here provides your right turn signal and right brake light. The yellow wire provides your left turn signal and left brake light. The brown wire provides your taillight and running light signal.

And the white wire is the necessary ground connection between your Focus and your trailer.Now on our turn signals and brake light circuits, we have a total power output of five amps per side. Which is more than sufficient to tow a small trailer with two or three incandescent light bulbs or as many LEDs as we want. On our taillight and running light circuit, we have total power output of 7.5 amps. We can run several incandescent lights on that and again about as many LED lights as we want. One thing I like about this is it does have a nice built in dust cover to help protect it when it's not in use.

This will keep any loose items inside your trunk from coming in contact with the terminals, potentially causing a short.One other thing you can you do is put some dielectric grease inside here and close the cover up over it, and this will even offer more protection. We have dielectric grease available on our website. Now when comparing this to other wiring options for the Focus, what I really like about this one is that it is plug and play to your vehicle. There is no cutting or splicing of the factory wiring. So you don't have to worry about voiding your warranty or potentially causing a wiring issue, which could damage your vehicle.Also, the built in converter box will isolate your Focus from any potential shorts that could occur if your trailer had a wiring problem, another great feature about this.

Okay now that we've gone over some features, we'll show you how to get it installed.To begin our install, we're going to open our rear hatch. Now we're going to remove our floor covering. Now we're going to remove this threshold here. In order to remove it, we'll have four plastic push pin fasteners running across the back side of it. The way these work, you use a flathead screwdriver or a trim panel tool, come behind the fastener and then pry back, it'll pop out. Now we can grab the panel and lift up on it. And we'll set it aside.Now this black plastic panel here, we have two Torx screws, one on each side. We're going to remove these. Okay now we'll peel back our weather stripping by that black plastic panel. We'll pry it away from the vehicle. Okay with our panel separated, we can now take our carpet here on the side, kind of fold it back like this. Now we'll have access to all of our fasteners that hold our taillight assembly in place.Our taillight is held in place with these two wing nuts, one there, one down there. So I'll loosen these nuts, may need to use a pair of pliers to break them loose. Now we can grab our taillight assembly, kind of pull it away from the vehicle like that. We'll see our connector right here, a little black tab on it. Press down on that tab and pull to separate. We can set our taillight assembly aside for the time being. And we'll repeat the same process to get our passenger side taillight out.Now that we have all of our taillights removed, we can remove our grommet here on the driver's side. We'll just kind of come in behind it and pry it out, just like that. Now we'll take our T connector here with the yellow wire and we'll place it through this grommet from the inside. We'l
