No Bed Syndrome in Ghana is being driven by structural and systemic failures, not just a lack of beds, according to former Health Minister Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye.
His comments follow the tragic death of 29-year-old Charles Amissah, who was reportedly turned away by Ridge Hospital, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, and the Police Hospital due to no available beds.
Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV, Dr. Okoe Boye explained that hospitals operate like factories, and poor patient flow management, infrastructure gaps, and inefficiencies are causing dangerous bottlenecks in emergency care.
