Описание: The fourth EP from the Cividale del Friuli entity, Saint Heaven.

Two years separate this EP from “Beyond the Daisy Reverence”, yet the sonic lineage remains tightly connected. Once again, the SH welds atmospheric black metal to its post black counterpart, forging something both immersive and abrasive. This ensues its soundscape to have reverb-laden sections to bloom behind tremolo lines, while passages of fragile luminosity are abruptly scourged by blast-driven tempests. This results in a chiaroscuro soundscape in which radiance and chaos coexist in a highly volatile equilibrium.

The record is still sustained by a coarse ash-throated rasp that scrapes against the instrumentation, injecting a feral tone that prevents the more atmospheric passages from dissolving. Beneath this the guitars adopt an unexpectedly saccharine tonality at times, these arcs shimmer with a near ecstatic glow, yet such sweetened epicness is continually destabilised by dissonant elements and abrupt rhythmic turbulence.
The culprit for this is often the drums that function as the architect and also saboteur. While it adds a great finesse to the compositions, it also fractures their stability through sudden accelerations and chaotic fills. There is a sense of controlled demolition, as structures are built only to be broken and then reassembled with renewed tension.

In terms of songwriting, Saint Heaven demonstrates a compositional assurance that recalls Coffret de Bijoux, albeit in a less experimental and markedly harsher guise. Where that project typically leans into labyrinthine abstraction, “The Divine Chronicles of the Drought” favours a more directness shaped to a more chaotic sonic concept.
