After using factory "round" nibs for a while, I have been curious about custom grinds and their effect on my writing, especially with a cursive hand. In short, you have to really practice at being comfortable with such a grind as some strokes might be a tad too sharp or "feedbacky". For beginners, you might want to try a stub to get a similar effect.
There are other ways to get your hand on a custom grind, but I decided to get a Franklin Christoph and pay an upcharge for a Medium Cursive Italic (M.CI) grind from Yukio Nagahara off a #6 Jowo nib. In this video, you can see how this grind gives a bit of line variation to your writing.
