White floribunda rose 'Iceberg' dancing in the breeze in Northern California. Beside it is the pink shrub rose 'Bonica'. Edging the roses are the purple flowers of herb sage and gardenias.
Iceberg was introduced by Kordes in 1958. Parentage- 'Robin Hood' X 'Virgo'. Robin Hood is a red hybrid musk rose (Joseph Pemberton UK 1927). Virgo is a large white hybrid tea rose (Charles Mallerin France 1947). Iceberg has inherited Robin Hood's ability to bloom in long lasting clusters and Virgo's white colour and mild fragrance-the beauty of genetics!
