David Austin English roses Gertrude Jekyll, Scepter'd Isle, Gentle Hermione and Abraham Darby growing in my garden in Northern California. This video shows their growth habit. Still pictures while pretty, do not give the gardener an idea of how the plant will perform in the garden- the height, width and growth habit.
The roses are in the second year - G.J and S.I were planted as bare roots. G.J has an upright habit while G.H has been putting out octopus canes. They are incredibly beautiful, fragrant and bloom profusely. G.H is pastel coloured and A.D leans to an apricot. S.I is a soft pink, while G.J is a bolder pink. A.D is seen at 2.42 min at the right bottom. S.I and G.H flowers tend to nod, but that has a certain charm. The shrub rose Bonica's small pink flowers are seen above the purple sage flowers.
