Описание: Join us for a guided practice session to discover the beauty of Major 7th chords on the piano. Learn how to navigate the circle of fifths with ease!

In this tutorial, you'll learn how to construct major 7th chords, and play all 12 Major 7th chords counterclockwise around the circle of 5ths, also known as the circle of 4ths. It's best if you eventually learn to do this without sheet music so that you think about the patterns, but if you would like to use it for the suggested fingerings, the link to the PDF is below.

I find Major 7th chords really beautiful, and over the next 3 weeks we'll be focusing on them. The next tutorial will present another exercise with all inversions of M7th chords, and the following week, we'll experiment with some improvisation ideas using these chords.

Practicing this will help you become more fluent with your chords, and give you lots of potential building blocks to experiment with while improvising. Start slowly, especially if you're new at this. I recommend practicing about 4 chords a day if this is brand new, then build up to all 12, and then see if you can play the whole exercise from memory at about quarter note=88, which is the speed I'm playing in this video.

Technique tip: be sure to rotate your wrist while playing these patterns.
