New Federal Signal 2001-130 | Full Alert | Niles, OH | 9/6/25

Описание: For the First Saturday this month, I decided to re-attempt this 130 in Niles. For those who don’t know, this siren replaced the Thunderbeam RSH-10 that I recorded about 7 years ago back in May. The old siren was experiencing failures within the past couple of years that unfortunately could not be fixed.

This siren is serial DC11484A25, being manufactured in January of this year. You may notice this siren peaks at a higher pitch than most AC/DC 130s traditionally do, I have a hunch this is due to a new sourcing supplier for the rectifiers Federal Signal uses, which now come from a company in China. Based on videos of other units installed this year, I would guess that these new rectifiers put out slightly more voltage than the old ones did, resulting in a higher pitch. Enjoy!

Niles’ siren system consists of this 130, two SRNBs, two other 130s, and a 2001-DC Roundback (the sole remaining of two purchased in 1989). The city tests along with most of Trumbull County’s communities on the First Saturday of each month at noon, weather-permitting.
