#Tablet:
Tablet may be defined as the solid unit dosage form containing medicament or medicaments with suitable excipients,compressed or moulded into solid.

#general appearance :
The general appearance of a tablet,its visual identity & overall elegance is essential for consumer acceptance for control of lot to lot uniformity. Appearance of a tablet involved the measurements of a tablet.
➤Size ➤Shape ➤ Colour ➤ Odour.
2.Size & Shape:It can be dimensionally described & Control.The Thicknesses of a tablet is only variables. Tablet thickness can be measured by micrometer or by other device.
3.Unique Identification Marking:
These marking utilise some form of embossing, engraving or printing. These markings include company name, symbol,product code,product name etc.
4.Organoleptic properties :
Colour distribution must be uniform with no mottlink.For visual colour comparison compare the colour of sample against standard colour.
➤Presence of odor indicates stability problem.
➤Presence or absence of specified taste can be checked.
5.Hardness:
Tablet requires a certain amount of strength or hardness & resistance to friability to withstand mechanical shakes of handling in manufacture,packaging & shipping. Hardness generally measures the tablet crushing strength.
6.Friability :
Friability of a tablet can determine in laboratory.This consist of a plastic chamber that revolves at 25rpm,dropping the tablets through a distance of six inches in the friabilator which is then operate for 100 revolutions.
6.Weight Variation Test:
➤Take 20 tablet & weighed individually.
➤Calculate average weight.
7.Disintegration Test:
It is the time required for the tablet to break into particles,the disintegration test is a measure only of the time required under a given set of conditions for a group of tablets to disintegrate into particles.
8.Dissolution Test:
Dissolution is the process by which a solid solute enters a solution.
In the pharmaceutical industry it may be defined as the amount of drug substance that goes into solution per unit time under standarizedconditions of liquid / solid interface.
